Capture the screen and edit stills and video
Ashampoo Snap is a feature rich screen capturing tool, for taking screenshots and screencasts.
Like most screen capture tools, you can set hot keys for many of the capture features with Ashampoo Snap. You can choose to capture a window, fixed region, scrolling window, a free style region and more. You can also choose the output format, BMP, JPG, PNG or PDF. Once you've take your shot, there is a basic editing suite, where you can add some effects, text, arrows and so on. The interface is unusual, but really easy to use.
With video capture, Ashampoo Snap is also really easy - choose what you want to capture, whether it's the full desktop, a portion, or a particular application, and click start. And if you want to capture onscreen video, there's a special setting on Ashampoo Snap for that too.
Ashampoo Snap is not the simplest capture application available, but it's certainly rich in features, and is well designed. The video capture is really good, and makes simple screencasts and tutorials really easy to do. It's by no means a professional video editing studio, but for most people it will do just fine.
Ashampoo Snap is a a great mid-range application, with enough features for most users, and nice interfaces.

The software is heavy, the minimum requirements are badly wrong!.
The official software requirements are very below of true requirements to record an framed video at HQ (854x480) quality, and even with on-the-fly or cache options, it cuts or delays the job, destroying your work. Even using an dedicated video card, with a good amount of RAM, at 2.8 GHz processor clock, you can not use this app with confidence. I bought the 6 and 8 versions, following the official requirements, and was a total spent of money, and a deception with support of Ashampoo. More

How do you get video capture to work?.
I purchased this software so i could make personal music compilations by recording my favourite artists from obscure rare dvd's... however Ashampoo Snap 4 wont record anything from my pc dvd player or youtube files, thought maybe my copy was faulty, so uninstalled it then reinstalled it... but to no avail... looked at help/faq's however just says if you have difficulty capturing video then try another codec... tried all, and still no joy??? ...anyone got any tips, as would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
Pros:
Capture's still screenshots no probs, but why bother, when you can do this same function by using the print screen tab and saving to paint... which is free.
Cons:
Video capture wont work, tried every codec setting available, but just constant black void screens... totally frustrating. More

Very disappointed.
Not much.
After having paid for it, downloaded it, installed it my computer crashed as it had never crashed before.
>I was unable to reboot and using Safe Mode I did a system restore and uninstalled the program. That did not do any good!
As last resource I reinstalled Windows.
Please return my money.
I have always been happy with the products I have bought from you but this one was garbage as far as I am concerned. More

Snap is a Snap.
I've used several screen capture programs and like Snap the best of them all. Once I configured it to me my needs, I find it very easy to use. I especially appreciate having the ability to capture video and have used it to create tutorials in my work.
Pros:
Ease of Use
The fact that hides in the background until needed
The variety of options available
Cons:
It would be helpful to be able to capture longer video in smaller file sizes - or to have options as to which codec to use to capture video. More

moving in the right direction.
the product is reasonable but so far I have not been able to create a really good professional demonstration. The finished product has very low graphics, and if you are trying to make an Excel demo the figures and text are quite out of focus quite disappointed with this really. But I will continue with the software to see if it can overcome the poor graphics etc of the finished article.
Pros:
quite easy to use when you get your head round it
Cons:
poor graphics especially text and numbers. More
